Wish You Were Here-By Katie Genghini

On my soul's vacation, pictures of you were everywhere
Free from inhibitions I found you there
Can't recall what you were wearing, or even your face
Didn't expect to find you, no, not in this place
Just like a dream, only awake
Needed some time, a little time to escape

On my soul's vacation, pictures of you were everywhere
At these photos of you, I was left to stare
Feeling so naked, down to the bone
This is my soul's vacation, can't I be alone?
It  is no sign, nothing of subconscious mind
Only a reminder of what was left behind
Maybe it's peace, I haven't a clue
It's clear to me now, I'm left with you

It was my soul's vacation, and these pictures of you were everywhere
Not what I'd imagined, though not unfair
Such an odd time, to see your face
Is this a haunting, here in this place?
My surroundings so vivid, but only one in view
The photos were blurry, though clearly of you
You left a stamp, a mark on my soul
Different from the heart, as the soul makes us whole

This is my soul's vacation, and pictures of you remain everywhere
I'm left with your ghost, we're walking away
Walking towards nothing, just can't stay
The peace I'm feeling, is shared with you
Nothing so lovely as this friendship true

On my soul's vacation, pictures of us are everywhere
